Attempted armed robbery at Hagerstown bail bond business

December 21, 2012

Hagerstown Police said Friday evening that they were looking for two men who tried to rob Second Chance Bail Bonds at 48 E. Franklin St. earlier in the day.

The men, wearing bandanas over their faces and gloves on their hands, entered the business and demanded money, police said in a news release.

When an employee replied that there was no money at the business, one man pulled out a silver revolver and said the employee was in the wrong place at the wrong time, the news release says.

A siren could then be heard in the background and the men ran away without getting any money, police said.

Officers arrived at the scene at about 5:40 p.m.

Police described one man as white, short, with freckles, wearing blue jeans, a blue jean coat and a red bandana. The other man was described as black, taller than the first man, wearing black jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt. The hood was pulled over his head.

Police said they searched the neighborhood, but did not have a tracking K-9 available to help. They also were reviewing video footage.

Police have asked anyone with information about the attempted armed robbery to call them at 301-790-3700.
