Donald Burr Kisner, 85, of Martinsburg, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, under the care of hospice, at Countryside Assisted Living in Martinsburg.

Born Sept. 22, 1927, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late David and Mary Virginia Kisner.

He retired from the West Virginia Department of Labor, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of Equality Lodge 44 A.F. & A.M.

He was a lifelong member of Calvary United Methodist Church.

Donald loved his family, his church, his kind caregivers and playing tennis.

He is survived by a daughter, Michele "Mitzi" Hoke; grandson, John Boyd Hoke and his wife, Patricia; two brothers, Calvin L. Kisner and William "Shug" Kisner; and one sister, Wanda L. Chapman of Piney Flats, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Marie Heck Kisner; two brothers, D. Meredith Kisner and George E. Kisner; and two sisters, Beatrice V. Kisner and Rose Marie Lamp.

A memorial service will be celebrated Sunday, Jan. 6, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, 220 W. Burke St., Martinsburg, with the Rev. Al Clipp officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church; Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25403; or Martinsburg Chapter 646, Military Order of the Purple Heart, P.O. Box 194, Gerrardstown, WV 25420.
