Frances Maxine Beall Rash, 89, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.

Born Aug. 14, 1923, in Hedgesville, W.Va., she was the daughter of George R. and Fannie Sharff Beall.

Maxine was married to George O. Rash on Nov. 22, 1964, in Hagerstown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; three sisters, Lillian Shaffer of Petersburg, W.Va., Irma Pauser of Plainfield, N.J., and Evelyn Beall of Martinsburg; and one brother, Douglas Beall of Martinsburg.

She was a graduate of Martinsburg High School and Hagerstown Business College.

She was employed by the M.P. Moller Organ Co. until retirement in 1986.

Before moving into assisted living at Somerford House on Sharpsburg Pike in 2009, she lived on Glenwood Avenue in Hagerstown.

Maxine compassionately and generously supported numerous charities after her retirement.

She was a member of Zion Reformed United Church of Christ.

She is survived by numerous nephews and nieces.

The funeral service, a "celebration of life," will be Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, with the family receiving visitors at 9 a.m. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Kevin Munroe of Zion Reformed United Church of Christ in Hagerstown. Interment will immediately follow at Harmony Cemetery, Marlowe, W.Va.
