Nelson Angelo Turner, 75, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born Sept. 13, 1937, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Carlton J. Turner and Vera Faith Turner Bowers.

He was a 1955 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years.

Nelson retired from Mack/Volvo after 40 years of service.

He attended Otterbein United Methodist Church.

At Rockford Crescent, he served an apprenticeship as tool and die maker. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Habitat Restore. 
Nelson was a faithful blood donor who just received his 26-gallon pin.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Turner; daughters, Patience Powell and husband, Kenneth, of Mukilteo, Wash., Faith Toston of Radford, Va., Melody Crist and husband, Bryan, of Philipsburg, Pa., and Kristy Rohr and husband, Jared, of Sharpsburg, Md.; sons, Jack Turner and wife, Nikki, of Glendale, Ariz., and Neil Turner and wife, Jennifer, of Christiansburg, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-granddaughters.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev.  Dr. Stephen D. Robison and the Rev. Robert V. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Little Rose Hill Cemetery in Clear Spring, Md.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. and a half-hour prior to the service.

Memorial donations may be made to Children in Need Inc., 131 W. North Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740; or donate a pint of blood to the Red Cross in Nelson’s name.
