Doris A. McCauley Hoffman, 86, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.

Born Nov. 20, 1926, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Ralph A. McCauley and Anna Mary Stahl McCauley.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob L. “Jake” Hoffman, who died April 17, 1989.

She was a lifelong member of Salem Reformed Church.

She was a lifelong homemaker who cared greatly for her children and the many members of her family.

She assisted Jacob in fundraising activities for Washington County Association for Retarded Citizens from Kemp Horn Home in Smithsburg to Potomac Center in Hagerstown. She drove for Meals On Wheels. She also helped Jacob with preparations for Lions Club Pancake Day.

Doris was very talented with playing piano, organ and beautiful needlework projects of needlepoint and crewel.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Hoffman of Winchester, Va.; a sister, Jane McCauley Noland of Lady Lakes, Fla.; a brother, Ray L. McCauley of Hagerstown; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas L. Hoffman, January 1980; a daughter, Jane E. Hoffman, Dec. 15, 1997; a sister, Nancy McCauley White, July 23, 2011; and a brother, Ralph Atlee McCauley, July 23, 1989.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Steve Wagoner will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.
