James Edward Proctor, 89, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, Md.

Born Monday, Oct. 29, 1923, in Weaverton, Md., he was the son of the late Ralph Alexander Proctor and the late Elizabeth (Barger) Proctor.

He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Dorris E. Proctor, on April 20, 2012.

He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1941 and later served in the U.S. Navy during World War II onboard a sub chaser. He was formerly employed at Fairchild Aircraft, and later retired in 1986 from the Department of the Army at Fort Ritchie.

He was a member of New Beginnings Community Church, Eagles Club, BPO Elks Lodge 378 and Dixon Troxell American Legion Post 211, Funkstown, Md.

He was a devoted family man who loved baseball and music.

He is survived by two daughters, Holly Tosadori and husband, Anthony, of Smithsburg, Md., and Karen Williamson and husband, Terry, of Hagerstown; four grandsons, Jay Hunt, Evan Hunt, Sean Hunt and Forrest Williamson; granddaughter, Amanda Williamson; two great-granddaughters, Catrina Hunt and Emma Hunt; and two great-grandsons, Gavin Hunt and Brayden Hunt.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Danner; and brother, Ralph Proctor.

Services will be Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Henry Burtner officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
