The site contains Government, About Hancock, Calendar of Events, Area Attractions, Church Directory and Contact Us pages.

The Government page includes a listing with telephone numbers and e-mail addresses for elected officials, the town’s department heads and staff.

Meeting minutes are also available online and website visitors can sign up for e-mail alerts.

The site went live Wednesday, Mayor Daniel Murphy said at the Town Council meeting Wednesday night.

Business owner named to fill council vacancy

HANCOCK — A former Hancock councilman and business owner was named this week to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former councilman Tim Smith, who recently resigned his seat to run for mayor.

Robert Anthony McCusker was appointed by Mayor Daniel Murphy and confirmed unanimously by the council. He will fill out the remaining two years of Smith’s four-year term.

McCusker owns RAM Enterprises, a contracting company in Hancock, and served on the council from 2005 to 2009, choosing not to run for re-election.

In November, the council appointed January Creek Souders to fill another vacancy on the council, that one created by the resignation of Nigel Dardar, who also filed to run for mayor.

Dardar’s term on the council was scheduled to expire in February. Souders has filed to run in the Jan. 28 municipal election.

The other council seat up for election next month is that of Councilman Dennis Hudson, who has filed for re-election.

Several of the candidates for mayor and council were given an opportunity to speak about their reasons for running during the public comment period at Wednesday’s meeting.
