December 09, 2012

Hagerstown Police arrested two men Sunday in connection with an armed robbery earlier in the day at the CVS/pharmacy on East Wilson Boulevard.

Daniel Russell Knopp, 27, of 1124 Kuhn Ave. in Hagerstown, and Patrick Dennis Weber, 23, of 134 Saunders Drive in Falling Waters, W.Va., were charged with armed robbery, assault, reckless endangerment and theft, according to Sgt. John Lehman.

The robbery occurred when a man wearing a hoodie and a mask entered the store, pointed a gun at an employee and demanded money from her, Sgt. Benjamin Lyncha said.

The man was given an undisclosed amount of money in the 4:06 p.m. robbery before he fled on foot, Lyncha said.

A witness attempted to stop the man as he left the store, but he was able to get away, Lyncha said.

The man fled on foot toward Pope Avenue and East Wilson Boulevard, where he was picked up by someone driving a copper Chevrolet Cobalt, Lehman said.

Washington County Sheriff’s Department officers found the Cobalt, and two occupants were detained, Lehman said. A handgun and money were found on the floor of the vehicle, Lehman said.
