Holiday bazaar

The annual Jonathan Street community holiday bazaar will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Memorial Recreation Center, 109 W. North Ave. in Hagerstown.

There will be lots of arts, crafts and holiday items to purchase.

Guest preacher

On Sunday, John Dean of San Antonio, Texas, will be the guest speaker at Bridge of Life Church, 14 S. Potomac St.

Dean has devoted more than 50 years of his life to ministry and has served the body of Christ as an evangelist, a pioneering pastor, and as an apostle. He is also a founding member of the Alliance International Ministries’ coordinating team and shares in apostolic oversight for Bridge of Life. 

The morning service will include the ordination of Justin Perrow as an elder and Dwayne Coss as minister of music.

Holiday concert

The sounds of Christmas will ring out with the St. James Brass Quintet and the Haven Lutheran Church Senior Choir Saturday, Dec. 15, at 5 p.m. at Haven Lutheran Church.


The yearly concert will feature Christmas carols and old-time favorites.

As attendees leave the concert, they will be treated to the warm glow of the luminarias at Rest Haven Cemetery next door.

Light refreshments will be served following the concert.

The church is at 1035 Haven Road in Hagerstown.

Senior forum

The Washington County Senior Coalition will present a senior forum with the Washington County Delegation to the Maryland General Assembly on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. at the Senior Center at Girls Inc., 626 Washington Ave. in Hagerstown.

Support group

The Diabetes Support Group at Walnut Towers will meet Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 1:30 p.m. in the first floor community room. 

The program will be “How to Survive the Flu and Other Illnesses” presented by Dr. Mark Jameson with the Washington County Health Department. 

The group is open to individuals who live at Potomac Towers and anyone in the community. The forum is for educating individuals with diabetes to help manage their disease and to gain support from others.

The group is sponsored by the Washington County Health Department, Hagerstown Housing Authority and the Washington County Commission on Aging

Cantata planned

Ebenezer AME Church’s Senior Choir will hold its 37th annual Christmas Eve cantata Monday, Dec. 24, at 9 p.m.

The cantata is titled “Light of the World.’

The community is invited.

Ebenezer AME Church is at 40 Bethel St. in Hagerstown.

No contest this year

Although there will not be a Christmas decoration contest this year in the Bethel Gardens Community, the members and staff of the community center wish everyone a happy and safe holiday.
