Santa in the stars
’Tis the Season will examine many of the seasonal customs based on light, as well as winter holiday traditions, including Yule, greenery, Santa and the Christmas Star. 7 p.m. Tuesdays Dec. 11 and 18. William Brish Planetarium at Washington County Board of Education, 820 Commonwealth Ave., Hagerstown. Olde Tyme Christmas
The Friday, Dec. 7, event begins with a Yule log bonfire at 6 p.m. The evening will include music and Santa at Town Hall; wagon rides, music at St. Paul’s Church, living nativity in the park; shopping; raffles. 6 p.m.; 8:30 p.m. raffle and contest winners announced at Town Hall. ‘Four Tickets to Christmas’
A Broadway-style musical that follows an out-of-work family performing group who unexpectedly spend Christmas in a small rural town in Ohio. 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, Saturday, Dec. 8, Sunday, Dec. 9. Otterbein Ministry Center, 912 S. Potomac St., Waynesboro, Pa. $5; free for children younger than 13. A special free presentation will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, for residents of area nursing homes and senior citizens who are not able to be out at night. A Christmas event
The event will include illusionist Brett Myers, the original play “Stolen,” presentation for Operation Christmas Child, cookies and hot chocolate and prizes.
