Chime players

On Sunday during the 10 a.m. worship service at Covenant Presbyterian Church, the church’s chime choir will play Christmas carols.

Three octaves of the Malmark Chimes were purchased with memorial gifts in 1994 from Plumsteadville, Pa. The shape and precise tuning of the choirchime provides a beautiful tone.  The chime choir is under the direction of Barbara Biser of Hagerstown.
The community is invited.

The church is at 11833 Greenhill Drive, off Jefferson Boulevard.

Toys for Tots

Allegany Dental Care, at 22109 Jefferson Blvd., Smithsburg, is an official dropoff site for the 2012 Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program.

New, unwrapped donations can be dropped off at the office Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Song and dance at HCC

The English and Humanities Division at Hagerstown Community College will present “An Afternoon of Song and Dance” Saturday at 2 p.m., at Kepler Theater.

The event will feature more than 30 students in the dance and music programs at HCC.

Dance students will perform jazz, ballet, musical theater, and contemporary dances, and vocal students will be performing a variety of opera and musical theater numbers.

The HCC Chorus will also perform.

“This is a chance for students from various backgrounds and skill-levels to come together to showcase their talents and share the various performing arts with HCC and the greater Hagerstown community,” said Alyssa Foley, lead dance instructor. “Audiences will have the chance to experience upbeat Broadway show tunes, contemplative and contemporary student choreographes, storytelling through ballet, opera, and choral music.”

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call Alyssa Foley at 240-500-2511 or send an email to
