Rose Magdalene Plume, 89, of Hagerstown, Md., died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Twin Oaks Assisted Living in Williamsport, Md.

Born Dec. 15, 1922, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles William and Anna B. (Cook) Langenstein.

She was the wife of 73 years to Gilbert Aden Plume, whom she married July 15, 1939.

Rose graduated in the class of 1940 from St. Mary's Catholic School in Hagerstown.

She was a homemaker and a life member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hagerstown, where she participated in The Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Catholic Daughters of America and Catholic Golden Age.

In addition to her husband, Rose is survived by one son, Roger L. Plume and his wife, Judy, of Hagerstown; one brother, Joseph Langenstein; two sisters, Margaret Foreman and Joann Kline, all of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, Kim Mouse, John Plume, Paul Plume and Amy Heller; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Rose was preceded in death by five sisters, Virginia Weibel, Helen Kershner, Mary Stevens, Anna Langenstein and Martha Langenstein; and three brothers, Charles Langenstein, Paul Langenstein and John Langenstein.

A Mass will be celebrated Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. Fr. George A. Limmer will be celebrant. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown, with a Christian wake service beginning at 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Catholic Daughters of America, c/o St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
