2. Look to the stars

'Tis the Season will examine many of the seasonal customs based on light, as well as winter holiday traditions, including Yule, greenery, Santa and the Christmas Star. Shows are 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Dec. 18. William Brish Planetarium at Washington County Board of Education, 820 Commonwealth Ave., Hagerstown. If schools are closed or dismissed early, the planetarium will be closed. $3; $2, students and children; free for senior citizens with a Gold Car from Washington County Public Schools. 3. Maryland memories

Judy Colbert will sign her latest book, "It Happened in Maryland," from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at  Visitor Welcome Center, 6 N. Potomac St., downtown Hagerstown. Books will be available for purchase. Go to www.marylandmemories.com.



4. Artwork on display

Artwork by area artists, seen above, including students from Greencastle-Antrim High School art department will be on display from 6 to 8 p.m. Fridays, Dec. 7, and Dec. 14; noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 and 15. Gallery 7, 107 E. Baltimore St., Greencastle, Pa. Call 717-597-3284.



5. Christmas in Clear Spring

A Currier and Ives Christmas will be from 2 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Plumb Grove Mansion, Broadfording Road, Clear Spring. Visitors will tour 12 rooms decorated in 19th-century style. Call 301-842-2342. $5 donation per person.
