Mail Call - Dec. 3

December 02, 2012

“I just wanted to say that reading in here about the price of gasoline, I just took a motor trip to and from Louisiana, and south of Roanoke, Va., gas is anywhere from $3.07 a gallon to $3.17 a gallon. Never paid more. Don’t know what’s wrong here.”
— Greencastle, Pa.

“I understand now why they go from Halloween right into Christmas. Because who do we have thanks to give to now? We have a president in there who has the largest deficit ever, one who has a high unemployment rate going on, and one who turns his back when four Americans get killed. We’re losing lots of homes, lots of businesses are closing, and this Obamacare, watch it, it’s going to affect ... but once the rich gets taxed, they’re going to have to tax the poor and ... lay people off. So we don’t have any thanks to give anymore.”
— Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

“You bunch of crybabies. Most of you get two days a week off. Grow up. I work 365 days a year at one job, 361 days a year at the other job. Two jobs. Two jobs it takes to pay all my bills. Oh, but that’s OK, you voted for him again.”
— Hagerstown

“I would like to wish everyone who voted for President Obama happy holidays. This will be your last one. ‘Happy’ is gone out of holidays.”
— Hagerstown

“Well, Thanksgiving Day is over. Wonder how many people stopped to thank God for their delicious feast that they had that day, or how many of them just bypassed all that and pigged out. Hmm, makes you wonder. Anyway, in Friday’s paper, it says, ‘Have fun, be safe, be nice.’ Humph, I don’t want to be out shopping on Black Friday, not the way everybody grabs stuff and acts like they’re nuts. Yes, the piece on A8 in Friday’s paper tells you how to shop, be nice. Leave the little ones at home.”
— Hancock

“Since the election is over, people stop being so negative. Stop complaining. Get a life. Do something for somebody, help somebody. Go to church and pray for this world. Do something. Get over it. Let it go.”
— Hagerstown

“I see they’re still blasting away at Penny Nigh. I’ve put in Mail Call once before, she likes to dig for the truth, and she likes to speak the truth, so I don’t know what everybody’s afraid of. I think she’s going to do a good job. And if she doesn’t, I guess the people will vote her out. Now I have a question for the county residents. What about Ruth Anne Callaham? How come nobody criticizes her? All she ever does is say ‘Yes.’ Yes, Ruth Anne Callaham should be voted off the commissioner’s seat that she holds. She’s never said ‘no’ to anything when it comes to spending the taxpayers’ money.”
— Hagerstown

“I don’t understand, these people are complaining about working these extra hours over the holiday. With all the people out of work, they should be thankful that they have a job. You should be thankful every day of the year, not just one day of a year.”
— Hagerstown
