December 02, 2012

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Ed Schubel of Williamsport, a senior theater/voice major, played Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf as the University of Kansas Theatre staged the musical “Into the Woods”  in November at the Crafton-Preyer Theatre in Murphy Hall.

A graduate of Williamsport High, he is the son of Scott and Nettie Schubel.

The play features a book by James Lapine and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

Combining the fairy tales of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Riding Hood with the story of a baker and his wife, “Into the Woods” follows the characters as they explore the consequences of their characters’ wishes and quests.

The University Theatre hosted more than 950 Kansas high school theatre and music students for a special matinee performance on Nov. 15.
