Kim Rene "Hop" Hovermale, 54, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs.

Born Nov. 22, 1958, in Bay Shore, Long Island, N.Y., he was the son of Roy Bobby and Betty Lou McCoy Hovermale of Berkeley Springs.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a 1976 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.

Hop was co-owner of Roy's Service Center and Grocery Inc. in Berkeley Springs.

He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1483 and Deford Lodge 88 A.F. & A.M., both of Berkeley Springs.

He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family and socializing, especially with the morning coffee club at Roy's. He walked with the Relay for Life "Hope for Hoppy" team.

In addition to his parents, Hop is survived by his wife of 27 years, Staci Ann Oyerly Hovermale at home; one son, Joshua Nathaniel Hill Hovermale of Berkeley Springs; one daughter, Carrie Ann Cutshall and her husband, T.J., of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Cindy Lou Hovermale and Denise Ann Omps, both of Berkeley Springs; three grandchildren, Jasmin Nicole Hovermale of Berkeley Springs, and Robert Nathaniel Hovermale and Jonas Scott Hovermale, both of Laredo, Texas; and many nieces and nephews, especially his special great-niece, Amarie Jolee Farris, of Berkeley Springs.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Theresa Jo Ferguson, on May 30, 1998.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Warm Springs Middle School, 271 Warm Springs Way, Berkeley Springs, with Pastor Jack Hiles and Pastor Brett Bever officiating. Interment with Masonic graveside services conducted by Deford Lodge 88 A.F. & A.M. will be in Highland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union St., Berkeley Springs, and Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Warm Springs Middle School. The funeral home will be open Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the convenience of family and friends.
