2. Comedy for a cure

3. Strike up the band

Rohrersville Band will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, Rohrersville Band Hall, 4315 Main St., Rohrersville. The 175-year-old band will present its Christmas concert.Free admission. Call 301-790-2580.

4. Christmas event

Mountaintop Community tree lighting and fun with Santa will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Fort Ritchie Community Center, 14421 Lake F Royer Drive, Cascade A large evergreen tree on the east end of the Fort Ritchie parade field will be decorated with lights. There will be children's games, activities for multiple age groups with prizes, music by students from Cascade Elementary School. 5. Seasonal songs

Hometown Christmas celebration will be Saturday, Dec. 1, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Smithsburg. Christmas music will be performed by harpist Sally Lay, 9 a.m.; dulcimer mountain music and bluegrass musIc led by Ernie Bradley, 10 a.m. Cookie sale, Christmas bazaar, gingerbread demonstrations, crafts for children, and a live nativity at 1 p.m. Call 301-824-7460.
