  • Cub Scouts from Pack 58 in Downsville who sold more than $850 during the Trails End popcorn fundraiser earned the right to throw a pie into the face of Cubmaster Sandy Miner. The lucky six took aim during the packs annual Thanksgiving dinner. Approximately 100 Scouts and family members attended the Nov. 12 dinner at Washington County Agricultural Education Center.

Happy birthday to Lula Brant Harsh, a lifelong resident of Williamsport. She turns 100 years old on Nov. 29.

Charlie Brown Christmas

A winter wonderland of more than 80 decorated Christmas trees will adorn the interior of Springfield Farm Barn for Charlie Brown Christmas — Reindeer in the Rafters, from 3 to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 1, 2, 8 and 9; and Tuesday, Dec. 4, from noon to 5 p.m.

Children can visit with Santa and “Buster” the Talking Bear. There will also be a large train display, wooden train table for little railroaders and holiday music.

Jack Myers, the Senior Idol winner, will sing at 1 p.m. on Dec. 4.

Horse-drawn wagon rides through lighted Byron Memorial Park will be available for a fee.

Charlie Brown Christmas is free to everyone. Donations are appreciated.   

Christmas parade to be held Friday

Williamsport’s annual Christmas parade will be Friday, beginning at 7 p.m. The parade starts at the Water Tower, goes down Conococheague Street, then Potomac Street.

To participate in the parade, call Town Hall at 301-223-7711. The lineup for the parade starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Water Tower.

Santa will be at the end of the parade and lead onlookers into the park for the annual lighting of the Christmas lights at Byron Park. The lights will be lit for everyone to enjoy through Jan. 2. There is no charge. Donations will be accepted.

Breakfast with Santa set for Saturday

A Christmas breakfast, sponsored by Williamsport Volunteer Fire and EMS, will be served Saturday from 6 to 11 a.m. at the community building in Byron Memorial Park.

The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, pastries, coffee, orange juice and milk.

Breakfast costs $6 per person, $3 for those ages 6 to 12, and is free for those 5 and younger.
Santa will be there from 8 to 10 a.m.

WHS Class of 1952 reunion is Sunday

Williamsport High School’s Class of 1952 will hold its 60-year get-together Sunday, beginning at 5 p.m., at Western Sizzlin’ steakhouse, 17567 York Road in Halfway.

Anyone from the class or friends of the class are welcome.

Youth basketball league now forming

Hagerstown Area Youth Basketball League is now forming.

The league is for youth throughout Washington County, grades four through six (all players will make a team).

Registration will be held at St. James Brethren Church, 17718 Lappans Road, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday; and Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 3 and 4.

All registrants must bring a copy of their birth certificate.

Christmas bazaar in Marlowe

“Christmas in Marlowe” is the theme for the bazaar to be held Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Marlowe Ruritan Building, Broadlane, Marlowe, W.Va.

The event features Christmas crafts and decor. Food prepared by the Ruritan will be available. The event is sponsored by the Ruritan wives.
