New youth basketball league forming in area

A new Hagerstown Area Youth Basketball League is forming.
Registration will be for players in fourth, fifth and sixth grades. Registration will be Thursday, Nov. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m.
All players must bring a copy of their birth certificate.
Registration will be at St. James Brethren Church, 17718 Lappans Road in St. James.
All games and practices will be on Monday and Tuesday. All players will make a team.

Breakfast planned
Shiloh United Methodist Church will host a breakfast Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. at the church.
Those ages 2 to 12 are invited and must be accompanied by an adult.
There will be crafts, prizes and the Christmas story will be told.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077 in Hagerstown had losses totaling 29 1/4 pound for the week. 
The best TOPS losers were Pat Horning, Mike Reid and Nancy Itnyre. The best KOPS  (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) losers losers were Dorothy Smith, Maida Law and Mary Jo Cunningham.
Rose Shockey won the ha-ha prize.
The no-no snack for the week is cookies. 
Deloris Hays was honored for her 10th year as a KOPS member.
In the team challenge, the Mums won with an 8-pound loss.
Patsy Martin, with backup from Mary Lou Edmands, Mike Reid and Patsy Price presented a musical skit on Thanksgiving and weight loss.
 The group meets Monday mornings at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown.

Christmas dinner
Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion Auxiliary will host a Christmas dinner  Tuesday,  Dec. 4. Legion and S.A.L. members are invited. Appetizers will start at 6 p.m.
A turkey dinner with all the trimmings will follow. There will also be desserts and entertainment.
