Deadline extended for Blues Fest art

Area artists have until 4 p.m. Tuesday to submit their entries

November 25, 2012

The city of Hagerstown’s Western Maryland Blues Fest Committee, in collaboration with the Washington County Arts Council, has extended the deadline for the 2013 Western Maryland Blues Fest Poster Artist submissions to Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Every year the committee and the arts council find an artist who creates an original work that will be used to advertise for the festival that is held annually on Public Square in Hagerstown.

The winning original artwork is commissioned by the arts council and the city of Hagerstown and is seen on posters, T-shirts, programs and other promotional material.

The original artwork is also raffled off to help raise funds for the Blues Fest.

In addition to having their original work featured everywhere on all kinds of promotional materials for the Blues Fest, the artist will also have a chance to exhibit his or her other works in a special gallery show at the arts council in June.

Artists who want to be the 2013 Blues Fest Poster Artist are encouraged to submit up to three entries that will be reviewed by the committee and the arts council.

Images must be submitted in a JPEG format and files should be labeled: “Last Name, First Name, and Title of Work.” Artists can email images to and include their full name, address, telephone and email address.

Artists can also send a CD of their images marked with their name to: Washington County Arts Council, Inc., 14 W. Washington Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740
