Restaurant inspections for June 2012

The following food service establishments were inspected by the Washington County Health Department in June and found to have critical violations that needed to be corrected immediately:

IHOP, 17820 Garland Groh Blvd. — * condensation dripping on product in freezer (corrected, product discarded immediately, other items were covered); condensation build-up observed in walk-in freezer (corrected, drip plan used to catch drip).

Roy Rogers, 1719 Massey Blvd. — * beef roast on slicer observed at 124 degrees under heat lamps (corrected, roast was removed and placed back in oven to reheat to 165 degrees for a minimum of 15 seconds internal temperature. A new roast was taken out of warmers to use for lunch service); must repair ceiling tile above soda dispensers; improper glove use observed and poor hand washing, employees observed opening walk-in cooler with gloves on and returning with raw chicken in container. Employees then touched chicken with same gloves.

The following food service establishments were inspected by the Washington County Health Department in June and found to have sanitation violations that must be corrected within 30 days:

AC&T, 8650 Sharpsburg Pike, Fairplay — must label bulk containers to show date and contents (corrected); must store single-service items off the floor.

Bhawani Manor Care, 9946 Downsville Pike — must clean can opener (corrected); must label and date bulk containers (corrected); must use sanitizer in three-compartment sink (corrected); must clean hood filters.

Black Rock Golf Course, 20025 Mount Aetna Road — must repair chipped floor tiles behind serving counters, must repair chipped countertop.

Conococheague Junior and Senior League, Ball Park Drive, Williamsport — must repair or replace cracked floor tiles near three-compartment sink.

Five Guys Burgers & Fries, 18007 Garland Groh Blvd. — must repair leak in back-flow prevention device on mop sink; must replace ceiling tile above door to kitchen prep area.

Garfield’s Restaurant & Pub, 17301 Valley Mall Road — must repair coving and several broken tiles on kitchen floor; thermometers missing in some cold-hold units (corrected); must clean portable fan above grill sandwich prep unit (corrected); dishwasher not releasing a detectable amount of sanitizer, EcoLab will be called to service and prime sanitizer line, facility was advised to use three-compartment sink until dishwasher is repaired; no test strips observed; hoses under bar sink must be trimmed to provide sufficient air gap.

Hagerstown Speedway, 15112 National Pike — must prepare and submit Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point plan (HACCP plan); must clean floors under soda machine.

Improved Order of Redmen, 16129 Lappans Road, Williamsport — must clean inside top of microwave oven at waitress station; must repair gaps in vent filters for exhaust hood over oven and chicken frying side of prep line; must repair overflow problem on bar hand sink drain; HACCP plan needed.

Jersey Mike’s Subs, 18015 Garland Groh Blvd. — must clean under sink and prep table areas to remove grime.

La Chiquita Grocery, 47 E. Franklin St. — must correct missing shields from eight light fixtures.

Leiter’s Fine Catering, 2 Brandy Drive, Williamsport — rinse dial on dishwasher not registering temperature.

Panera Bread, 17772 Garland Groh Blvd. — must repair right condenser fan in walk-in freezer, which has completely iced over, preventing the fan from operating.

Panorama Acres, Hagerstown City Market — labeling not observed on some products.

Pen Mar Concession, 14600 Pen Mar High Rock Road, Cascade — must store single-service items off the floor; must clean soda nozzles; must correct use of bare wood shelves.

Rocky’s New York Pizza, 11351 Robinwood Drive — must repair damaged walls in storeroom; hood filter missing; must repair a section of floor; HACCP plan needed.

Sanders Market, 25451 Military Road, Cascade — must store food off floor of walk-in freezer; must make wood shelves smooth and easy to clean; must repair broken floor tiles.

Southard’s Concession II, 1198 Virginia Ave. — paper towels at hand sink must be in a dispenser; floor needs to be cleaned.

Williamsport American Legion Post 202, 400 American Legion Drive, Williamsport — must replace missing wall tile by Vulcan oven; must repair and clean floor at waitress station and hole in wall under hand sink at station must be repaired; inside top of microwave oven at waitress station must be cleaned; covered trash can needed in unisex restroom; wall behind prep sink beside ice machine must be repaired to make it smooth and easily cleanable.

The following establishments did not have any violations in June: Battleview Market, 5331 Sharpsburg Pike, Sharpsburg; Brook Meadow Meat Market, 716 Security Road; Camp Louise, 24959 Pen Mar Road, Cascade; Cedar Ridge Children’s Home & School, 12196 Cedar Ridge Road, Williamsport; Chipolte Mexican Grill, 18003 Garland Groh Blvd.; Columbine Manor, 16290 Spielman Road, Williamsport; Conococheague Minor Little League, Sunset Avenue, Williamsport; Dollies Tea Room, 150 Cumberland St., Clear Spring; Funkstown American Legion Post, Funkstown Community Park, Funkstown, Hempen Hill BBQ and mobile catering unit, 13208 Fountainhead Plaza; Heritage Academy, 12215 Walnut Point Road; Holiday Inn Express Hotel, 241 Railway Lane; Homewood Suites, 1650 Pullman Lane; Roy Rogers, 100 N. Burhans Blvd.; Sleep Inn & Suites, 12426 Houck Ave.; and Williamsport Nursing Home, 154 N. Artisan St., Williamsport.
