Donald Glenwood Crampton, 71, of Hagerstown passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.

Born on June 21, 1941, in Antietam Furnace, Md., he was the son of the late Jennings Bryan and Margaret Priscilla Otzelberger Crampton.

He was a 1959 graduate of Boonsboro High School.

He was of the Protestant Faith.

He served in the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He retired from Pangborn Corporation in Hagerstown and most recently worked at Corning in Greencastle, Pa.

He was an umpire at Hagerstown Pony League and South Mountain Little League for many years. He played football for the Hagerstown Bears and bowled at Southside in Hagerstown. He loved riding motorcycles and deer hunting and was loved and will be missed.

Donald is survived by a son, Jeffrey T. Crampton; two granddaughters, Jessica T. Mimnall and Jennifer T. Schaeffer; four great-granddaughters, Tierra L. Mimnall, Tiffany S. Schaeffer, Taylyn S. Schaeffer, Taryn S. Schaeffer; a great-grandson, Cody J. Mimnall; a sister, Janice L. Jamison; three brothers, S. Elwood Crampton, Clifford A. Crampton, Ronnie L. Crampton; and his beloved dog, Rocksee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary L. Snyder, Margaret J. Kelbaugh, Pat Boyer; and a brother, Thomas A. Crampton.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, MD 21795 on Monday Nov. 26, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will open Monday at 1 p.m.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown with Rev. Ernest E. Witmer officiating. Military graveside honors will be provided by AMVETS Post No. 10 and The Marine Corps League of Hagerstown.
