Registration for W.Va. beginners beekeeping course now open

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. — The West Virginia Eastern Panhandle Beekeepers Association is accepting registration for its 2013 Beginner Beekeepers Course.

Classes will be held Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25, and March 4 and 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the West Virginia Fruit Research and Education Center in Kearneysville.

There is a class fee of $70, which includes the six-week course with textbook and membership for up to three family members in the association.

For beekeepers who have completed the beginners course or have at least two years beekeeping experience, a three-week advanced class will be offered.

Classes will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, Feb. 2, 9 and 16 at the center.
