Huntingdon County, Pa., man killed in auto accident

LURGAN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A 49-year-old Huntingdon County, Pa., man was killed in an auto accident Friday night on Pa. 641 west of Newburg, Pa., according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said Kenneth E. Boyd Sr., of Shade Gap, was speeding in a 2005 Kia Optima while traveling west in the area of 8023 Newburg Road (Pa. 641) when he lost control and slid sideways into the eastbound lane about 5:19 p.m.

A 2003 Hyundai Tiburon, being driven by Abigail Catherine Grix, 19, of Mifflintown, Pa., was traveling east and struck Boyd’s vehicle, causing it to flip onto its roof and onto the hood of the Tiburon, police said.

Grix suffered major injuries in the crash and was flown to Hershey Medical Center, police said. She was wearing her seatbelt.

The crash is still under investigation, police said.
