WHS to conduct holiday helpers program

Williamsport High School’s Physical Education Department, which includes faculty Adrian Custer, Larnie Vickers and Jackie Semler Row, will hold the third annual “Holiday Helpers for WHS Families in Need” event at WHS.

In the past three years, the program has given more than 25 students and their families gifts of food, clothing and gift cards to make happy and memorable holidays.

They will be collecting monetary donations, nonperishable food items and gifts for WHS students in need and their families beginning Monday, Nov. 19, and continuing through Wednesday,  Dec. 12.

Checks should be made payable to Williamsport High School and gifts and food can be dropped off at WHS, in care of the Physical Education Department.

Blue Band Night set for Nov. 21

Chick-fil-A and the Williamsport Blue Band Boosters invite the community to this month’s Blue Band Night on Wednesday, Nov. 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the 1680 Wesel Blvd., Hagerstown location.

The restaurant will give a portion of the check to the Blue Band Boosters.

Moose Lodge offers free Thanksgiving dinner

A free Thanksgiving dinner will be held Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. at Williamsport Moose Lodge 2462, 119 N. Conococheague St.

The menu includes turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, tea, lemonade and assorted desserts.

This will be the fourth year that the Williamsport Moose has held its Thanksgiving dinner for the community.

Last year, the Moose served more than 170 meals. This year, the lodge hopes to exceed 200.

The public is invited. A donation box will be available to benefit families at Christmas.

Shredding event benefits shelter

On Saturday, A Better Shredder will hold a shredding event for the public in the back parking lot of the Williamsport Moose Lodge, 119 Conococheague St., from noon to 3 p.m. A donation for the shredding will be requested and all proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Washington County.

A Better Shredder requests a limit of four boxes per person. All forms of paper can be shredded. There is no need to remove plastic covers, staples or plastic binders. Clint Rawlings of A Better Shredder said they can even shred credit cards and license plates.

Free Thanksgiving dinner planned

A free Thanksgiving dinner will be held Thursday, Nov. 22, at Williamsport United Methodist Church, 25 E. Church St., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The community is invited. Takeouts and limited deliveries will be available.

Clothes of Hope will also be open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Shepherd’s Table schedule

The Shepherd’s Table, sponsored by the Williamsport Ministerium, serves free meals on Thursdays at Rehoboth United Methodist Church. It will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22.

The community is invited to enjoy the free Thanksgiving meal with family and friends at Williamsport United Methodist Church. The Shepherd’s Table will reopen Thursday, Nov. 29.

Downsville Ruritan to hold pancake breakfast

Downsville Ruritan will hold a pancake breakfast Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m. at the old Downsville school.

The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, sausage gravy, eggs, puddin’, coffee, juice and milk.

The breakfast costs $5.50 per person. Those ages 5 and younger eat free.
