William Andrew “Bill” Webber, 88, of Devonshire Road, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Julia Manor Health Care Center of Hagerstown.

Born Sept. 23, 1924, in Knoxville, Md., he was the son of the late Lloyd A. and Annie (Porter) Webber Daugherty.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving three years in the United States Army Air Force.

He was a member of Local 1473 Painters Union of Hagerstown and retired from the Washington County Board of Education.

He also was a member of Hagerstown First Church of God, Rose Hill Avenue, and a charter member of First Church of God Knoxville; and a member of American Legion Post 239 Cascade, Md., and Lions Club of Sharpsburg, Md.

He is survived by his second wife, Frances Myers Webber; one daughter, Linda Harbaugh and husband, Stephen, of Cascade; three stepdaughters, Ruth Statler of Martinsburg, W.Va., Diane French and husband, Shane, of Hagerstown, and Kay Pepa of Carlisle, Pa.; two sons, Dale Webber and wife, Judy, of Greencastle, Pa., and Eric Webber and wife, Cheryl, of Hagerstown; one stepson, Carl Myers and wife, Elena, of Hughesville, Pa.; one sister, Mary Cooper of Frederick, Md.; one brother, Lawrence Webber of Hagerstown; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 63 years, Betty Demory Webber; one daughter, Deloris Webber; one son, Larry Webber; one grandson, Christopher Harbaugh; one sister, Margaret Snoots; and two brothers, Dennis Webber and Arthur Webber.

Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at 11 a.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, Md., with Pastor George Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Cascade, with military honors provided by AMVETS Post 10 of Hagerstown and the Marine Corps League of Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
