Two displaced by fire in Pa.

November 11, 2012

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. — A fire early Sunday displaced two people from a single-story house at 215 Valley Drive in Guilford Township, Pa., according to fire officials.

A Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal is investigating where and how the fire started, Fayetteville Fire Department Lt. Brady Bumbaugh said.

The first crews on the scene at about 3 a.m. did not see signs of fire from outside the house, Bumbaugh said.

“All occupants were evacuated,” he said. “It was a small fire contained to one bedroom.”

The American Red Cross of the Cumberland Valley was contacted to offer assistance to the two adults living there, Bumbaugh said. He said he did not know their names but believed they were renters.

“They shut the door to the bedroom, which saved most of the house,” he said.

It is unknown whether the home had working smoke detectors, Bumbaugh said.
