Washington County Arts Council

Chris Brewer is the new gallery manager/administrative assistant at the Washington County Arts Council in Hagerstown.

Brewer is a local freelance graphic artist originally from Germantown, Ohio. He holds an Associate of Applied Science in graphic design degree from Kaplan University. 

He considers that he “has always been an artist,” and works in oil painting, sketching and other types of freehand artwork.

Coffman Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center

Coffman Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Hagerstown recently named Colleen Winters as marketing director.

The facility, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in July, is ranked ninth among the top nursing facilities in Maryland in a recent survey conducted by LifeSpan Network.

Coffman Nursing Home, a 59-bed facility, is behind the Washington County Health Department on Pennsylvania Avenue in Hagerstown.

J.P. Trucking Inc.

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. — J.P. Trucking Inc. held its quarterly safety breakfast on Oct. 21 at The Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84 in Williamsport.

The following awards were presented:

• Safe driving and longevity: Frank Woullard IV, one year; Terry Sorrell, two years; Curtis Smith, two years; Johnny Riner, two years; Otis Burdette, eight years

• New drivers for last quarter: Terry Witherstine and Larry Welch

• New mechanics for last quarter: Rich Shamburg and Jeff Stokes

Power Marketing LLC

Power Marketing LLC, a full-service marketing, Internet and brand strategy consulting company in Hagerstown, recently hired Trent Semler as Web developer and John Thrasher as communications specialist.

Semler’s job responsibilities include Web design, print design and client communications. He has a bachelor’s degree in visual communications from Stevenson University, formerly Villa Julie College. Semler has worked at Specialized Communications/Noventri, most recently serving as art director. He also serves on the design board at James Rumsey Technical Institute and does pro-bono graphic design work for local nonprofit companies in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Thrasher’s job responsibilities include copywriting and editing, SEO and keyword projects, and social-media marketing.

He has a bachelor’s degree in English from West Virginia University. Thrasher has worked as a social media consultant for Fiur Productions, managing all social media for the CBS-televised event “Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day.” In 2011, he helped launch entertainment website and developed social-media outreach for West Virginia’s Arts & Entertainment department.
