Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down - Nov. 10

November 10, 2012

Thumbs up to our utility, public service and public safety workers who served tirelessly under adverse — and dangerous — conditions to keep us safe and comfortable even as Superstorm Sandy continued to pummel our community. Even if we don’t see you at work, we know that you are always on duty behind the scenes keeping modern life operating during emergencies and on every night, weekend and holiday. We salute and thank you for your dedication.

Thumbs up to all registered voters who went to the polls Tuesday or who participated in early voting. Whether the election went your way or not, you chose to get off the couch, get to your polling place and cast your vote. In what was viewed as a critical election, fewer people voted nationwide than in 2008. Your participation in the Democratic process is to be applauded.

Thumbs down to loudmouth Donald Trump for calling for a revolution on election night when free democracy was not going his way. If his voice ever belonged in the national political arena, he showed it no longer warrants any serious attention with his careless Twitter statements, which he later deleted.
