Morning MoJo report - Nov. 9

Here is the Morning MoJo Report for Friday, Nov. 9:

* As of 7 a.m., traffic was sluggish on I-270 southbound and I-495 in both directions, and I-70 eastbound just east of Hancock is closed due to a tractor-trailer fire, but was running fine on all the other interstates throughout the area.

* On the MARC Train, Trains 409, 408, and 421 are all operating one car short this morning, according to the Maryland Transit Administration's website, mta.maryland.gov.

* The light rail, metro bus service, local and commuter buses, and mobility service are all running on time and operating on their regular schedules, according to the Maryland Transit Administration's website, mta.maryland.gov.

* The weather today is expected to be sunny much of the time with a high of 54 degrees, according to the AccuWeather forecast on the HMTV6 weather website at www.herald-mail.com/hmtv6/weather/.Tonight, it's expected to be clear to partly cloudy with a low around 36 degrees. * Work to improve U.S. Alternate 40 and Poffenberger Road continues. Poffenberger Road is closed between Garis Shop Road and Sharpsburg Pike (Md. 65). Traffic on U.S. Alternate 40 may be reduced to one lane at times. Workers are assisting traffic there when needed.

* Work to improve the intersection of U.S. 40 and Md. 63 is expected to continue until the spring of 2013, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration. Workers are assisting traffic in the area when needed, and expect lane closures at different times.

* Traffic on Pennsylvania Avenue (U.S. 11) is reduced to one lane between Maugans Avenue and Northern Avenue so the Maryland State Highway Administration can remove the top layer of pavement and resurface it in that area, according to an emailed release from the SHA. Work is expected to continue through Friday, Nov. 9.

* The ramp from West Antietam Street to South Prospect Street is closed as work crews begin reconstructing the driveway entrance areas near the dry bridge that carries South Prospect Street over Antietam Street, according to a City of Hagerstown news release.

The work is expected to be completed by 4:30 p.m. Friday, when the ramp will be reopened, the news release states.

South Prospect Street and West Antietam Street remain open to traffic. Emergency vehicles cannot use the ramp while the work is being done, the release states.
