Francis Lorenz "Bud" Bastian, 88, of 13077 Little Hayden Circle, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at his home.

Born Tuesday, Nov. 20, 1923, in Williamsport, Pa., he was the son of the late Francis Ralph Bastian and the late Emma (Lorenzen) Bastian.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army in the 801st Engineering Battalion. He was employed with the Hite Company, retiring after many years. He was a member of the Altoona Bible Church and was currently attending the Broadfording Church of the Brethren Fellowship.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Jane Bastian; a daughter, Terrie L. Ellis and a son, Francis Allen Bastian, both of Hagerstown; brother, Robert Bastian of Altoona, Pa.; grandsons, James Eric Ellis and Philip Bastian; granddaughter, Daniell Silverio; great-granddaughters, Cheyenne, Destiny and Dakota Betts.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Bastian, and sister, Pauline Keller.

Private services will be held at the Alto Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona, with the Pastor Len Smith officiating.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
