Rev. Stephen R. Robertson Sr., 79, of Hagerstown, Md., died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Fahrney-Keedy Home, Boonsboro, Md.

Born Sept. 23, 1933, at Kansas City, Mo., he was a son of the late August W. and Irma S. Vass Robertson.

Rev. Robertson held a Bachelor's of Divinity and was a graduate of Lancaster Theological Seminary and was ordained in The United Church of Christ on June 3, 1973. He served churches in Bedford and Ridgway, Pa., Clear Spring, Md., and Mercersburg, Pa. In retirement he served as an interim pastor at Newville, Pa. and Clear Spring.

He was a member of Trinity UCC of Fort Loudon, Pa. For 30 years he was a Lions Club member and was a former president. Prior to entering the ministry, he was an engineer in the engineering field in New Jersey, where he was a former Scout Master. He was a former chaplain at Homewood Retirement Center, Williamsport, Md., for 10 years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia G. Grossman Robertson, whom he married July 28, 1958; four sons, August W. "Bill" and wife, Tina Robertson, of Hagerstown, Rev. George E. and wife, Guisselle Robertson, of Palmyra, Pa., Stephen R. Jr. and wife, Alicia Robertson, of Boonsboro, and Matthew P. and wife, Sharon Robertson, of Emmaus, Pa.; daughter, Rhonda of Missouri; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a sister, Rose Mary of Independence, Mo. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Pat Robertson and Bonda, and a granddaughter, Destiny Mae Robertson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 10, 2012, at Trinity UCC of Fort Loudon with Revs. Valeria Schmidt and Barron Barley officiating. Burial will be at Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon.

Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
