Margaret Katherine (Jones) Schildtknecht, 91, of Hagerstown, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at NMS Healthcare.

Born Jan. 30, 1921, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Iva Myrtle (Black) Jones.

Margaret was a former member of First Baptist Church in Hagerstown, and a former member of Antrim Assembly of God in Greencastle, Pa.

She worked as a welder for 12 years at Fairchild Industries before becoming a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Freeman D. Schildtknecht, who died in 2001; a son, Richard Garrett; a daughter, Beverly J. Schildtknecht; seven brothers, Chester, Dewey, Keneith, Paul, Charles, George, and David F. Jones; and three sisters, Mary Schildtknecht, Vicky Babington, and Annie Young.

Margaret is survived by five children, Larry V. Schildtknecht of Hagerstown, Judy I. Foltz of Falling Waters, W.Va., Freeman D. Schildtknecht Jr. of Keedysville, Gary W. Schildtknecht of Hagerstown, and Ronald A. Schildtknecht of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a sister, Thelma Lum of Hagerstown; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, with two on the way; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Shane Wilt officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in Margaret's name to First Baptist Church, 15 High St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at NMS for caring for their mother for the past 15 years, and also to the staff of Hospice of Washington County.
