Church offers breakfast on them

A “Be Our Guest Breakfast,” is offered the first Sunday of each month at Concordia Lutheran Church, 17906 Garden Lane in Hagerstown.

The community is invited to attend the 10:45 a.m. church service with breakfast to follow.

Christmas concert  

Hagerstown Children’s Theater performers will present a Christmas musical performance Saturday, Nov. 17, from 2 to 4 p.m.  at Valley Mall’s Center Court.

The performers range in age from 2 to 16 and are cast members from “Ferris Bueller, the Musical” and the musical “Broadway Bound.”


Arts festival

Washington County Public Schools will present the 2012 Elementary Arts Festival Thursday at North Hagerstown High School.

The festival will feature selected elementary students from around the county in dance, chorus and visual art. There will be elementary artwork from around the county on display in the lobby.

The actual performances start at 7 p.m. with Fountaindale dance students and then the elementary all county chorus will take the stage immediately after.

The artwork will be ready for display by 6:30 p.m.

The dance group will be under the direction of Amber Karkan.  The chorus will be under the direction of guest conductor Babette Wenerd. 

The event is free and open to the public.

Academy night planned at South High

South Hagerstown High School will hold a magnet/special programs open house Thursday, Nov. 15, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the media center.

Representatives from the Academic Leadership Academy, Academy of Finance, Maryland Teacher Academy and the Oracle Academy will be available to discuss the academies and admission requirements.

A presentation will be followed by a question and answer session. The program is free to students and parents.
