Liberty shuts out Williamsport in boys soccer semis

ELDERSBURG, Md. — Brett Sussman scored two goals and Jason Wolf added a goal as second-seeded Liberty defeated third-seeded Williamsport 3-0 in the Maryland Class 2A West semifinals Friday.

Corey Ellis had six saves for the Wildcats (10-5).

Liberty improved to 14-2.

HCC advances to Region XX semifinals

BALTIMORE — Elise Manning had a total of 22 kills, five blocks and five aces for Hagerstown Community College on Friday as the Hawks swept CCBC Essex 25-19, 25-22, Frederick 25-10, 25-8 and College of Southern Maryland 25-7, 25-13 in pool play at the Region XX tournament.

Callie Butts had 20 kills and 21 digs, Paige Kitchen had 65 assists and Tiffany Rohrer had 26 digs and four aces for the Hawks (21-3).

Hagerstown will play Northern Virginia in the semifinals today at noon at Essex and, with a win, would advance to the finals later today at 4.

Shepherd 3, West Virginia Wesleyan 1

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — Shepherd defeated West Virginia Wesleyan 20-25, 25-29, 25-12, 25-20 in a WVIAC match.

Kasey Mercier had 18 kills and nine digs for the Rams (8-16, 4-7), while Melani Lewis had 14 kills, Lauren Gardner had 14 digs and three aces, Meg Kenny had eight kills and five blocks and Sara Michael had 46 assists and 12 digs in the victory.

Erin Bond had 18 kills to lead the Bobcats (9-16, 5-6).
