Washington County games

North Hagerstown Hubs (8-1) at South Hagerstown Rebels (8-1)

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Series: North Hagerstown leads, 29-25-1.

Last meeting: 2011 — South Hagerstown, 40-7.

Last week: The Hubs beat Boonsboro, 40-12. ... The Rebels lost to Brunswick, 42-32.

Notes: The Rebels ended an eight-game losing streak — the longest in the series — against North last season. ... The 33-point victory was the second largest win for South in the series. ... The Hubs have won seven straight games since suffering their only loss of the season at Frederick in Week 2. ... The Rebels saw their nine-game winning streak — started with last year’s win over North — come to an end at Brunswick last week. ... The winner of the game is guaranteed a spot in the Maryland Class 3A West playoffs. The loser could also still qualify, but would need help from other teams to do so.

Boonsboro Warriors (7-2) at Smithsburg Leopards (4-5)

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Series: Boonsboro leads, 24-21.

Last meeting: 2011 — Boonsboro, 34-13.

Last week: The Warriors lost to North Hagerstown, 40-12. ... The Leopards beat Williamsport, 20-14.

Notes: The teams have traded wins the last five seasons. ... The Warriors have clinched no worse than the No. 2 seed in the Maryland Class 1A West playoffs, meaning they will host a playoff game next weekend. ... Despite the loss to North, the Warriors are still first in the region standings and a win would assure the Warriors the top seed. ... The Warriors have qualified for the postseason seven of the last eight years. ... The Warriors’ five-game winning streak came to an end with last week’s loss to North. ... The Warriors gained 201 yards, but allowed 471 — including 341 on the ground — in the loss to North. ... The Leopards have won two in a row after dropping five straight. ... The Leopards used a second chance in the final seconds to get the win over Williamsport. The Wildcats blocked a 23-yard field goal with 15 seconds remaining, but an inadvertent whistle led the the Leopards getting another shot. On a fake field goal, Zach Krall connected with Brian Orndorff on a 10-yard touchdown pass to give Smithsburg the win. ... Austin Ryan rushed for 111 yards on 28 carries and Krall threw for 81 yards for the Leopards.

Next week: The Warriors will host a Class 1A West playoff game; Smithsburg’s season is completed.

Clear Spring Blazers (3-6) at Williamsport Wildcats (0-9)

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Series: Williamsport leads, 8-0.

Last meeting: 2011 — Williamsport, 13-6.

Last week: The Blazers lost to East Hardy, 58-7. ... The Wildcats lost to Smithsburg, 20-14.

Notes: The Blazers trailed 30-0 at the end of the first quarter and 52-0 at halftime of the loss to East Hardy. ... East Hardy agreed to reduce the third and fourth quarters from 12 to 8 minutes each. ... The Wildcats have outscored the Blazers 268-70 in the series. ... The Wildcats have lost 10 in a row dating back to last season’s playoff loss to Middletown. ... The Wildcats have surrendered 371 points this season, 13 short of the school record of 384 set in 2004. ... The Wildcats were prepared to send their offense on the field after the defense blocked a 23-yard field goal with 15 seconds left against Smithsburg, but an inadvertent whistle gave Smithsburg another chance. ... The Leopards scored the winning touchdown on a fake field goal. ... T.J. Boyer completed 12 of 17 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown in the loss to Smithsburg.

Last week: The Black Knights beat Riverdale Baptist, 46-45. ... The Saints beat Maret, 37-17.

Notes: The Black Knights have won two in a row. ... Rachid Ibrahim ran for 370 yards and six touchdowns on 26 carries in the win over Riverdale Baptist. He accounted for 40 of the Black Knights’ 46 points in the game. ... The Saints got their first MAC win in two years against Maret last week. ... The Saints led 31-7 at halftime, then held on in the second half for the victory. ... Noah Cisse, Sherman Harris and Nick Hubbard each scored two touchdowns for the Saints.

Kent County Trojans (2-7) vs. Hancock Panthers (4-5)

When: Saturday, 7 p.m. at North Hagerstown

Series: Kent County leads, 3-0.

Last meeting: 2011 — Kent County, 39-0.

Last week: The Trojans lost to North Caroline, 51-14. ... The Panthers beat Massanutten Military, 30-12.

Notes: The Trojans started the season 0-6 and had won two straight before last week’s loss to North Caroline. ... The Trojans have not won on the road this season. ... The Panthers are chasing their first non-losing season since they went 9-2 in 2004. ... The Panthers have won three games in a row for the first time since winning five straight in 2004. ... Jesse Wolford ran for 108 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Panthers’ offense in the win over Massanutten. ... Jordan Keefer and Logan Manning each had an interception return for a touchdown.
