Richard A. Jones, 64

JULY 18, 1948-NOV. 1, 2012

November 02, 2012

Richard Aldean "Nick" Jones, 64, of Funkstown, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at his home with his family by his side.

Born July 18, 1948, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Kenneth (Juice) Jones and Betty Lee Wolfenberger Jones.

He graduated from South Hagerstown High School in 1966.

Nick was a painter by trade and worked for various painting companies. One of his favorite sayings, when the boss asked him why he only worked three days a week, Nick would reply "because I can't make it on two."

Nick was a fun-loving guy, who liked to party with his friends. He always had a joke (like his dad) and enjoyed making everyone laugh. He was a guy you wanted on your side if there was any trouble.

Nick loved the Baltimore Orioles, and was thrilled this past year, especially when they beat the Yankees.

In his younger years, he was a very good pool player.

He loved to fish, and spent a lot of time fishing with his nephew, Derek Jones.

He is survived by three brothers, Gary L. Jones of Williamsport, Kenneth L. Jones of Funkstown and Phillip W. Jones of Hagerstown; two sisters, Cinda J. Jones and Susan M. Lewis, both of Funkstown; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold W. Jones.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Arrangements are being handled by Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown.
