The Shirley B. Robison Fund will host a basket bingo event Sunday at the Williamsport Fire Hall, offering 25 games of bingo along with raffles.

Tickets cost $25 per person or $40 for two. Doors will open at 11 a.m. with lunch to be served at noon and bingo to follow at 1 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit local area patients fighting cancer.

Toys for Tots

Allegany Dental Care, at 17719 Virginia Ave. (near Halfway Boulevard) will be an official dropoff site for the 2012 Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program.

Those interested in dropping off donations can do so Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Santa Claus arrives at Valley Mall Nov. 10


Santa Claus will arrive at Valley Mall on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 9:45 a.m.

In addition to Santa’s arrival aboard a miniature, holiday train with Cully the Conductor to ring in the holidays, children will receive a free gift while supplies last.

Also, Santa will be available for professional photos at his Center Court home, where he can be found throughout the holiday season.

The first 100 customers purchasing a photo package with Santa will receive a “Moose Cookies” baking kit while supplies last.

Family pets are invited to pose for a photo with Santa, alone or with the family, on Monday evenings starting at 6 p.m. from Nov. 12 to Dec. 17.

Church to offer pumpkin rolls  

Pumpkin rolls will be offered at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church. The church will take orders until Sunday, Nov. 11. They are about 7 1/2 inches long and cost $7 each.

The pickup days are Thursday, Nov. 15, and Tuesday, Nov. 20.

To place an order, call Cheryl at 301-791-1773. Those placing orders are asked to leave their name, a phone number where you can be reached to set up a time for pickup, as well, as the number of rolls in the order.

St. Andrew’s is at 1020 Maryland Ave. across from the South End Shopping Center.


Parents of Washington County students, be sure to note the following on your calendars: Schools will be closing 2 1/2 hours early Friday.

Schools will be closed Monday, Nov. 5, and Tuesday, Nov. 6, for professional learning days. Classes will resume Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Happy birthday

Happy birthday to not one, but two Shekels boys. On Sunday, Nov. 4, my husband, Nick, will celebrate his special day, and the following day, Monday, Nov. 5, our youngest son, Ty, will celebrate his 9th birthday. Wishing both of my Shekels boys a very happy and wonderful birthday.
