The weather is really starting to turn strange around this time of the year anymore. Hope all of you have come through the storm safely and are doing well.



Winter Street Elementary chooses star athletes

Winter Street Elementary School has announced its star athletes of the month for September.

The students are Justine Duncan, fourth grade; Bre Himes, first grade; Abigail Duff, prekindergarten; Da’madre Bowens, third grade; Jamaica Henry, fifth grade; Antonio Balls, kindergarten; and Leviticus Ricks, second grade.  

Students chosen to be star athletes have abilities in all physical education activities and sports. The students always try their best, have a good attitude, show good sportsmanship to others and are always respectful and responsible.



Indoor yard sale

The Francis Murphy Senior Apartments, at 20014 Rosebank Way (off Robinwood Drive), will hold its annual indoor yard sale Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m.

Bible college registration

Antietam Bible College, Biblical Seminary and Graduate School, at 15 High St. in Hagerstown, is accepting registration for the spring semester, which begins Jan. 14, 2013.

Haven Lutheran Youth say thanks

The Haven Youth at Haven Lutheran Church in Hagerstown say thank you to all of the parents, grandparents and members of the congregation, and local businesses for supporting the group’s silent auction in September.

The youths, with the support of the congregation, raised nearly $1,000 that will be used for the youth mission and outreach activities. 

The youth group thanks the following local businesses for making donations: 

Grease Monkey, Lovell’s Nursery, Papa Murphy’s, Wal-Mart Supercenter, Sheetz,Auto Zone, Café del Sol, Friendly’s, Weis Markets, Camillion’s, Gold's Gym, Leitersburg Cinema, TGIF and Martin’s Farm Market.
