Aleida Mae Haines, 89, of Brownsville, Md., died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Julia Manor Nursing Home in Hagerstown, Md.

Born Oct. 6, 1923, in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Henry Harrison and Mabel Florence Gray Ballenger.

She was a lifelong member of Shenandoah Memorial United Methodist Church.

She was a 50-year member and past matron of Hagerstown Chapter 89 of the Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of Rebekah’s, affiliated with Odd Fellows Lodge No. 1 of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and a member of Woodmen of The World No. 1 of Maryland.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gerald Haines Sr.; a daughter, Cynthia Barger and husband, Raymond; and a son, Gerald Haines Jr. and wife, Rita, all of Hagerstown; a sister, Mildred Lanham of Charles Town, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Heather Reese and husband, Michael, of Greencastle, Pa., Holly Weaver and husband, Christopher, of Shippensburg, Pa., Heidi Poe and husband, David, of Orrtanna, Pa., Hilary Cooper and husband, William, of Robbins, N.C., and Alexander Haines and William Haines, both of Hagerstown; five great-grandchildren, Tyler Reese, Evan Reese, Colby Reese, Lilly Poe and Gracey Poe; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Markle; and an infant brother, Benjamin Ballenger.   

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Douglas Fraim will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Rohrersville, Md.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shenandoah United Methodist Church, Millville, W.Va.
