Landscape Design and Plant Selection Series — Wednesdays, Oct. 31 to Nov. 17, 7 to 9 p.m., plus a Saturday demonstration tour. The fee is $40 for the whole series, or $10 for each individual class. To register, call the Penn State Extension Office at 717-263-9226.

Water Quality and Quantity in the Region — Thursday, Nov. 8, 6:30 p.m. at  Shippensburg University’s Memorial Auditorium.

  The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a reception featuring displays by local watershed and advocacy groups.
 
At 7 p.m., Pat Bowling, a hydrologist with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, will describe water challenges and then join a panel of local experts to discuss ways to protect our water supply for future generations.

The panel will include Christopher Woltemade, a professor in Shippensburg’s Department of Geography/Earth Science, and Michael Christopher, manager of Washington Township, Franklin County.

To reach the Washington County Extension office, drive about seven miles south of Hagerstown from the I-70 exit onto Sharpsburg Pike.

The office is in the Washington County Agricultural Education Center complex.

The Franklin County, Pa., Extension office is at 181 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg.

From Hagerstown, take Interstate 81 north to the U.S. 30 east exit. Take the first road to the left, which is Franklin Farm Lane.

The Jefferson County, W.Va., Extension office is in Suite 3 at 1948 Wiltshire Road, Kearneysville, W.Va. Call 304-728-7413.
