Fall fest

The Western Maryland Hospital Center Auxiliary will host a fall fest Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the hospital center’s auditorium. 

There will be many vendors, including Longaberger, Miche, Origami Owl, Tastefully Simple and Journey to Relaxation. Fall and Christmas decorations will be for sale, as well.

The auxiliary will be offering lunch and other goodies to purchase.

Supper planned

Shiloh United Methodist Church, at 19731 Shiloh Church Road, will hold an all-you-can-eat ham and turkey supper Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m.

Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for those ages 6 to 12 and are free for those 5 and younger.

Carryout costs $11.

The dinner includes ham, turkey and all the trimmings, beverage and dessert.

Dickens Village

Otterbein United Methodist Church, at the corner of Franklin and Locust streets in Hagerstown, will hold a Dickens Village Christmas Fair Saturday, Nov. 10, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.


The Victorian Village, based on Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,”  will offer handmade wreaths, holiday decorations, wooden items, needlework, gently used items, candy, tea-time items and food for sale. 

There also will be caroling. Admission is free to the public.

Toys for Tots

Allegany Dental Care,  at 19418 Leitersburg Pike, will again be an official dropoff location for the 2012 Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program. Participants can bring new, unwrapped gifts to the office Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Card party

The Women’s Club invites the community to a Halloween card party and luncheon Wednesday at noon.

Attendees can play any card or board game and have lunch at the club. Reservations can be made by calling 301-739-0870 by today. The event costs $12.

Losses for the week totaled 48 1/2 pounds for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077. 

Valerie Eccard and Millie Toms were the best TOPS losers.

The best KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) losers were Mada Law, Darla Hartley and Louise Kline. 

Bruce Young won the ha-ha prize. 

The no-no snack of the week is chips. 

In the team challenge contest, team No. 4, the Mighty Warriors, lost the most weight — 13 3/4 pounds.

Attendees who attended the fall rally reported on the highlights of the meeting.

Toms was recognized for a loss of 13 1/2 pounds in eight consecutive weeks. Mary Jo Cunningham was elected chapter angel. Bea Myers gave her Pound Puppy to Linda Baker for encouragement. Linda Lemen gave awards for achieving exercising goals to Pat Horning, Mary Jo, Bonnie Henry, Dottie Alexander, Dottie Zimmerman and herself.   

The group meets Monday mornings at First Christian Church 1345 Potomac Ave.
