CertainTeed holds open house at Williamsport plant

WILLIAMSPORT — CertainTeed’s siding plant at 10131 Governor Lane Blvd. in Williamsport hosted a customer event Oct. 9 as part of a nationwide roadshow of its products and building science expertise.

The Hagerstown Be Certain event attracted 120 attendees from Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Maryland.

Visitors had the chance to see how siding is manufactured and learn more about new products that enhance the performance, style, energy-efficiency and sustainability of homes and buildings.

Products showcased with live installation demonstrations included roofing; vinyl, fiber cement and polymer shake siding; exterior trim; insulation; gypsum wallboard; ceilings; decking and railing; fence; foundation products; and PVC pipe.

Lucas Hamilton, a building science expert with experience in the research and development of construction materials and building performance computer simulations, spoke on “The Science of Specifying Moisture and Mold Control,” a seminar approved by the American Institute of Architects, and developed to meet Sustainable Design and Health, Safety and Welfare requirements.
