IF EVACUATING

  • Decide where you plan to go
  • Put together a disaster supplies kit
  • Have a plan for your pets. If necessary contact the local SPCA or the Humane Society
  • Pack what you need, and turn off water and electrcity.


IF STAYING AT HOME

  • Store enough water
  • Have a week’s supply of non-perishable food
  • Wait for an official announcement that the danger has passed
  • WHEN THE STORM APPROACHES
  • Listen to weather forecasts.
  • Keep your vehicle ready, and check gas, oil, etc.
  • Board up windows or put up storm shutters.


IF TRAVELING

  • Avoid areas that are prone to localized flooding
  • Do not drive through standing water
  • Keep away from downed power lines and report them immediately.
