Fred Robert "Speezie" Rohrer, 90, of 1200 Hillbrook Drive in Hagerstown, Md., died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born June 25, 1922, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of the late Fred W. and Lona Albert Rohrer.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific as a C.B.

He was employed as a letter carrier by the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1984 with more than 30 years of service.

He was a member of Hagerstown Bible Church.

He was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 as past commander and the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia Hewitt Rohrer; two sons, Gary W. Rohrer and his wife, Marjorie, of Boonsboro, Md., and Kirk L. Rohrer and his wife, Cindy, of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, Jaime Rohrer of Boonsboro, and Brooks Rohrer, Aaron Rohrer and Travis Rohrer, all of Hagerstown; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Dale R. Carver will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be conducted by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
