Halloween parade to step off Thursday

October 24, 2012|Susie Hoffman | Around Funkstown

All Funkstown children are invited to dress in their costumes and participate in the Funkstown Halloween Parade Thursday.

Ghosts and ghouls, along with princesses and pirates, are to line up behind Town Hall at 5 p.m. for the parade, which starts at 6 p.m.

The parade ends at Funkstown American Legion Post 211 for a party for the children. A thank you to the Ladies of the Auxiliary for hosting the get-together. The date and times for trick-or-treating in town were sent out with the water bill. Please turn on your porch light if participating and always accompany small children.

Parents Day Out program offered

If you find yourself in need of time to get daily errands done and would like to provide your child with a leg up on his/her education, check out the Parents Day Out program at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church.

The program is an opportunity for fun and education and school preparedness with activities and games supporting the growth and learning of numbers, shapes, colors and the alphabet.

The church will have an open house Thursday, Nov. 1, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
