Zumba offered

Christ’s Reformed Church will hold a Zumba gold/toning session every Monday and Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.

The church is at 130 W. Franklin St. in Hagerstown. 

The dance exercise is for those active seniors who enjoy keeping fit while exercising to the rhythms of cha cha, salsa, meringue, and even a bit of country, bhangra and swing. The session runs through the week of Dec. 17 and will resume the week of Jan. 10. Guests can attend their first class for free during the month of November (normal fee is $5). Class cards are available at five classes for $15, 10 classes for $25, and 15 classes for $30. 

Anita Binder, who will lead the sessions, is a licensed Zumba instructor.

Salute to Heroes program

Salem Avenue Elementary School will hold a Salute to Heroes program Thursday, Nov. 1, at 6:30 p.m.

There will be a musical tribute as well as shared writings by third- and fourth-graders, which will honor service veterans, police officers, firefighters and emergency medical services personnel.

McEducator’s Night

Salem Avenue Elementary will hold a McEducator’s Night Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the McDonald’s restaurant on Dual Highway. Staff members from the school will be helping out in the dining area during the evening.

It includes inside meals only. Proceeds from the event will benefit the PBIS committee.

ALD fundraiser

A fundraiser is being held to benefit Adrenoleukodystrophy, or ALD, Friday at the Elks Lodge on Robinwood Drive.

The doors will open at 5 p.m. There will be a spaghetti dinner from 6 to 7 p.m. and entertainment provided by Josh Sowers from 8 to 10 p.m.

Proceeds will go to the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore in memory of Tyler W. Miller and Travis K. Curry.
