Warriors prevail over South Carroll in 5 sets

BOONSBORO — Taylor Williams had 13 kills and five blocks to lead Boonsboro to a 25-22, 13-25, 27-25, 22-25, 15-13 victory Tuesday over South Carroll on Senior Night.

Shelby Griffith had 19 assists and 18 digs, Shelby Wallace had 17 assists and nine digs, Rakel Wilson had eight digs, Maggie Sullivan had eight kills and a block, Sarah Anderson and Leighann Cowden had six kills each and Natalie Reeder had 14 digs for the Warriors (7-5).

JV: Boonsboro, 2-0.

North 3, Winters Mill 0

WESTMINSTER, Md. — Peyton Wallech had 19 kills, 10 digs and four blocks to lead North Hagerstown in a 25-17, 25-21, 25-12 sweep of Winters Mill.

Alexis McCarthy had 14 digs and Sarah Bentley had 35 assists for the Hubs (14-1).

JV: Winters Mill, 2-1.

Smithsburg 3, Wallkersville 2

WALKERSVILLE, Md. — Amanda Snowden had 27 kills and 14 service points for Smithsburg in a 25-14, 23-25, 25-16, 22-25, 15-10 win over Walkersville (7-5).

Payton Belella had 46 assists, Marissa Dangler had 25 digs and Alaina Black had 11 kills and two blocks for the Leopards (12-3).

JV: Smithsburg, 2-0.

North Carroll 3, South Hagerstown 2

HAMPSTEAD, Md. — South Hagerstown won the first two sets, but couldn’t finish off North Carroll in an 18-25, 22-25, 25-23, 26-24, 15-5 loss.

Victoria Pearl led the Rebels (2-10) with 31 digs and 10 service points, while Hayley Freeman added nine service points, five kills and 28 digs.

Elaina Young had 11 kills and eight blocks for South, while Kendra Day added nine kills and seven service points and Kirsten Mohar had 23 digs and 10 service points.

It was North Carroll’s first win since 2010.

JV: South, 2-0.

MSD 3, Mercersburg 0

FREDERICK, Md. — Melody Gomez had six kills and two blocks for Mercersburg Academy in a 25-5, 25-21, 27-25 loss to Maryland School for the Deaf.

Elise Robbins had three kills and a block and Zoe Alpert had 12 digs for the Blue Storm (7-6).

JV: Mercersburg, 2-0.


Southern Fulton 4, Forbes Road 3

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. — Taylor Bohrer scored on an assist by Josh Hill in overtime to lift Southern Fulton to the win.

Bohrer finished with three goals and an assist for the Indians (5-13), while Richie Trumpower scored a goal, Morgan Strait had two assists and Shad Gordon had 13 saves in the victory.

On Monday, Southern Fulton fell 3-2 in double overtime at Everett. Bohrer had a goal and an assist, Hill had a goal and Gordon had eight saves in the loss.


Mercersburg 1, Middleburg 0

MIDDLEBURG, Va. — Paige Richardson scored on an assist by Maddie Shearer, and Syd Godbey made six saves for the shutout for Mercersburg Academy in the victory.


HCC 3, Essex 0

BALTIMORE — Callie Butts and Emmalyn Stahl had 10 kills each as Hagerstown swept Essex 25-17, 25-13, 25-16 in the Maryland JuCo Conference.

Elise Manning had nine kills and five blocks, Tiffany Rohrer had 11 digs and Paige Kitchen had 23 assists for the Hawks (17-3, 10-1).


Shepherd 2, Chowan 1

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Chad Ridenour scored the game-winning goal on an assist by Shane Lowery in the 73rd minute to lift Shepherd over Chowan (2-14).

The Rams (7-8-1) tied the game at 1-1 in the 65th minute on a penalty kick by Robel Desta.

Alex Aleshire had six saves for Shepherd.

HCC’s Sopa, Jallow earn all-conference honors

Two Hagerstown Community College players have been named to the All-Maryland JuCo Conference teams.

Sophomore forward Genc Sopa is a first-team selection, while sophomore midfielder Mamadou Jallow is a second-team selection.


Shepherd 6, Chowan 0

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Morgan Gabriel scored two goals for Shepherd in a victory over Chowan (2-14).

Kelsey Smith, Kylie Duffin and Lexi Vondrak each had a goal and an assist for the Rams (6-7-3), while Nicole Turner also had a goal and keepers Tessa Jones (two saves) and Elizabeth Wise (three saves) combined for the shutout.



Team Extreme hoops tryouts
