Mr. Franklin B. "Frank" Carbaugh, 89, of Hagerstown died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at Julia Manor Health Care Center, Hagerstown. He was the husband of the late Veda A. Poole Carbaugh, who died Feb. 12, 1994.

Born Oct. 14, 1923, in Hagerstown, he was a son of the late Frank Edgar and ClaraViola Beckley Carbaugh.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the European Theater with the 745th Tank Bn with the First Army.

Mr. Carbaugh was employed for 46 years with Fairchild Aircraft, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion, AMVETS Post 10, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 694, Ralph S. Tagg Jr. Chapter 14 of Disabled American Veterans, the 16th Infantry Regiment of Fort Washington, Md., and 745th Tank Bn Association of Chicago.

Frank is survived by a sister, Frances M. Shuman of North Carolina; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Walter E., David C., I. Scott and Ralph W. Carbaugh, Edith V. Weaver, Margaret K. Izer, Ruth N. Newkirk and Helen M. Reedy.

The funeral service will be Friday, Oct. 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Clark D. Carr will officiate. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown, with honors offered by AMVETS Post 10 and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
