North Hagerstown 4, Catoctin 0

Ryan Byard had two goals to lead North Hagerstown past Catoctin in an MVAL Antietam match on Monday

Connor Troxell and Zach Barton each had a goal, Wesley Wilson and Martin Rivas had an assist each and Max Ober had one save to record the shutout in goal for the Hubs (8-6, 3-3), who held a 25-5 edge in shots.

Wyatt Farmer had six saves for the Cougars (8-3-2, 3-2-1).

JV: North, 1-0.

Thomas Johnson 4, South Hagerstown 0

FREDERICK, Md. — Joe Rohr had 12 saves for South Hagerstown (1-11-1) in a loss to Thomas Johnson.

JV: Thomas Johnson, 3-1.


North Hagerstown 3, Catoctin 0

THURMONT, Md. — Kayla Peterson, Elizabeth Balog and Kirstie Coombs all scored as North Hagerstown ended its regular season with a shutout of Catoctin.

Sara Troxell and Mary Kinman each had an assist and Logan Keith had seven saves for the Hubs (3-9-1, 2-4-1).

JV: North, 5-0. 

North Carroll 1, Boonsboro 0

BOONSBORO — Bre Springer had eight saves for Boonsboro (8-3-4) in a regular season ending loss to North Carroll.

Boonsboro will host Smithsburg in the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday, October 30 at a TBD.

JV: North Carroll, 2-1.

Gaels go 1-3 at tourney

St. Maria Goretti went 1-3 at the Maryland Independent Private Schools tournament at Hagerstown Soccer Club.

The Gaels fell 4-0 to St. John’s Catholic Prep in the semifinals Sunday, after going 1-2 Saturday with a 2-0 win over Bishop Walsh sandwiched between a 4-0 loss to St. John’s and a 5-0 loss to Mary Ryken.

In the victory over Bishop Walsh, Lauree Lorensen scored two goals and Alexis Barone had two assists. Megan Rock had a total of 44 saves over the four games for Goretti (3-13-4).


Southern Fulton 3, Hancock 0

HANCOCK — Sara Wagner had seven kills, four blocks and an ace for Hancock in a 25-21, 25-19, 25-20 loss to Southern Fulton.

Kara McKinley had six kills, 12 assists and three blocks, Elizabeth Teeter had five kills, two digs and a block, Jessica Martin had eight digs and Ally Childers had four digs for the Panthers (7-7).

JV: Southern Fulton, 2-0.


PGA Team Championship

SALISBURY, Md. — Dirk Schultz and Tim Reeves stood in third place after shooting 11under par for 27 holes in the first round of the Mid-Atlantic PGA Team Championship at Salisbury Country Club.

The final 27 holes will be played today as Schultz (Beaver Creek) and Reeves (Black Rock) try to chase down Charlie Briggs and Ricky Touma, the leaders at 16 under par.

Beaver Creek’s Ashley Grier and Chris Oleson shot 2-under-par 106 and were tied for 19th place.
